Best Practices for Photoshop

Everyone always says, "there are multiple ways to do things in Photoshop", and although that is true, there are some approaches that are better than others. Better because they are faster, more accurate and/or more flexible. This session covers some of the most important approaches you can use to improve your speed, accuracy and creativity in Photoshop, including keyboard shortcuts, working non-destructively, Smart Objects and much more.

Adjustments

Session Goes Live at 9am EST

Mastering Curves

Learn what makes Curves one of the most powerful adjustments in all of Photoshop. Your foundation is built by seeing how curves relates to things you use daily in the physical world. We then shift gears and apply the now-obvious concepts to grayscale images. As we move on to adjusting color images, you’ll see how there are just a few tweaks that are needed to make the same concepts apply. We finish by using curves to precisely adjust one area so that it perfectly matches another. The same technique could be used to remove sunburn from an image. In the end, you should have a good foundation of knowledge of how to understand and use curves in Photoshop.

The No Fear Pen Tool Class

There’s arguably no tool in Photoshop that is more intentionally avoided than the Pen Tool. If you’ve ever found yourself trying a half dozen other techniques to accomplish something that deep down, you know the Pen Tool would do better, then this class is for you! The Pen Tool is an excellent tool that doesn’t need to be feared. It might not be the most intuitive tool in the toolbox, and those vectors do feel a little out of place in our favorite pixel pusher program, but it does its job so well it has more than earned its spot in the toolbar!

In this class we explore the basic use of the tool and its newest little brother, the Curvature Pen Tool. Then we go over two real life applications of when you would use the Pen tool, creating a smooth selection of an object, and crafting typography that appears to be hand drawn.
